Leasing and the Law (Basic)
A workshop for sales brokers (and their agents) who are moving into the business of renting/leasing properties. This is NOT a property management class.
Sales agents too often think “If I know how to list a million dollar home, and generate a $50,000 commission, I guess I can lease a $1,200 rental property without much study … YES?” This may seem a reasonable conclusion but this class will show you It’s Not. You’ll be shocked at what didn’t know about the leasing process and maybe rethink whether or not you want your agents doing leasing. Every broker, letting their agents do leasing, and every agent doing leasing, needs this class.
3 HR Class with Handouts
This workshop is 3 hours and can be taught with (or without) Georgia CE credit. Topics can also be adapted for conference breakout sessions or luncheon events. It is not state specific. See table of contents below.
3hr GREC Course #59182
3 Hour Class Description:
A workshop for sales brokers (and their agents) who are considering moving into the business of renting/leasing properties. This is not a property management class.
Sales agents often think if they know how to list and sell a million dollar home, and generate a $50,000 commission, they can lease a $1,200 rental property without much study. This may seem a reasonable conclusion based on the size of the commission generated but it’s not so. This class will examine the significant differences between the skills and training agents received for sales and the substantial differences there are to leasing. You’ll be shocked at what you didn’t know about the leasing process and maybe rethink whether or not you want your agents doing leasing. Every broker allowing their agents do leasing, and every agent thinking about doing leasing, needs this class.
The question answered in this workshop is as a licensed (even experienced) real estate agent are you prepared to lease a property without extensive training and understanding of the issues of property management?

Ethical Issues: Should a licensed real estate agent, not schooled in the issues of property management, negotiate and prepare a lease between a landlord/owner and a tenant?
I've worked with Robert on his property management documents for over 15 years. He's as smart a landlord as I've ever met and pays very close attention to the legal issues in every aspect of his various business ventures. His record for avoiding litigation in property management is incredible and a testimony to his skills and experience with legal issues. His property management documents are the best I've ever seen.
